Col Agnel is located at an altitude of 2744m.a.s.l.
The pass can be accessed from Ville-Vieille or from the Italian side. Below is a proposed route starting from Montdauphin-Guillestre (railway station), going up the Col Agnel pass from Ville-Vieille, and returning the same way to Embrun:

By regional train, we arrive at Montdauphin-Guillestre and then follow the route according to the map;
- 0,1km: (888m.a.s.l.) after leaving the train station, turn right onto N94;
- 1,2km: (899m.a.s.l.) at the roundabout, turn left onto D902A, signposted Guillestre;
- 3,9km: (967m.a.s.l.) at the roundabout, turn towards the centre of Guillestre (signposted Centre Ville);
- 4,6km: Guillestre (1014m.a.s.l.) on the right is Le Guil bar, open daily from 7.30am - you can stop for a morning coffee, second breakfast and to refill your water bottles; there are also two bakeries (on the right-hand side) open from 6.30am on Rue Maurice Petsche in the earlier 200m;
- 4,9km: (1040m.a.s.l.) - turn left; signposted La Combe;
- 5,4km: (1074m.a.s.l.) - turn left again, onto D902;
- 20,7km: (1355m.a.s.l.) - go straight ahead - signposted Col Agnel D947; here you can take variant B of the route, turning left onto Col d'Izoard - bypassing Col Agnel;
- 22,6km: Château-Queyras (1392m.a.s.l.) - on the right is a gastronomic point, and 50m further is a public toilet and drinking water intake;
- 25,1km: Ville-Vieille (1372m.a.s.l.) na rondzie (sklep i punkt gastronomiczny) skręcamy w prawo, na most (drogowskaz Molines - D5); za mostem po prawej stronie jest toaleta publiczna; 100m dalej po lewej stronie w głębi ulicy Rue Champ du Four jest ujęcie drinking water intake; when going up to the pass, it's worth choosing a place for lunch on the way back;
- 30,6km: (1729m n.p.m) turn left onto D205 (signposted Pierre Grosse);
- 33,1km: Pierre-Grosse (1913m.a.s.l.) drinking water intake on the left-hand side;
- 34,9km: Fontgillarde (2003m.a.s.l.) - on the left-hand side, there are two drinking water intake - the last ones before Col Agnel;
- 43,9km: Refuge Agnel (2580m.a.s.l.) - information about gastronomic services is available on the refuge's website;
- 45,9km: Col Agnel (2744m.a.s.l.) - the main goal achieved;

- 93,6km: (885m.a.s.l.) we take a safe left turn onto D994D - signpost: St-André-d'Embrun;
- 104,1km: Saint-André-d'Embrun (945m.a.s.l.) after the church, next to the post office, there is a drinking water intake;
-107,9km: (798m.a.s.l.) - we turn right onto the bridge and head towards Gare de Embrun;
