COL DU TOURMALET - LOURDES:

Col du Tourmalet is located at an altitude of 2115m.a.s.l. The mountain pass can be approached from Luz Saint Sauver or Sainte-Marie-de-Campan. Below is a proposed route starting from Lannemezan (railway station) and ascending the Col d'Aspin (1489m.a.s.l.) and Col du Tourmalet from the side of Sainte-Marie-de-Campan:

from Lannemezan (train station) following the map;
- 0,6km: (616m.a.s.l.) Turn left onto D939;
- 2,9km: (635m.a.s.l.) At the roundabout, take D929 towards St-Lary-Soulan;
- 18,2km: Sarrancolin (625m.a.s.l.) - grocery store and dining options - a good place to replenish drinks;
- 25,2km: (702m.a.s.l.) Turn right onto D918 (direction: Col d'Aspin); just before the bend, on the right, there's a dining point; on the left after the bend, there's a drinking water intake; the ascent to Col d'Aspin begins;
- 37,2km: Col d'Aspin (1489m.a.s.l.) - first destination reached;

- 42,4km: Payolle (1100m.a.s.l.) on the right, there's the Auberge des 3 Pics restaurant - worth stopping for coffee or lunch (open from 12 to 2 pm); 50m further, on the left, there are more dining options and a drinking water intake;
- 50km: Sainte-Marie-de-Campan (852m.a.s.l.) the best place to take a break for coffee or lunch, as it's the last town before the final destination - Col du Tourmalet; there's a small Vival grocery store (next to the bar/cafe) closed between 12:30 pm and 4 pm; the pizzeria Au Panier Gourmand also has a break between 1:30 pm and 5 pm; the drinking water intake is at the bend; 50m further, on the right, there's a public toilet;the ascent begins;
62,8km: 4km before the pass - La Mongie (1745m.a.s.l.) has dining options and a Carrefour store, but it's worth not interrupting the ride and stopping at the next points; there's a public toilet at the Office de Tourisme;
67km: Col du Tourmalet (2115m.a.s.l.)- main destination reached; a place to take a break: Restaurant du Col du Tourmalet.

98,8km: (464m.a.s.l.) we enter the comfortable Voie Verte des Gaves bike path;
104km: Argeles-Gazost (433m.a.s.l.) on the left there is a drinking water intake; we continue riding on the bike path until Lourdes.
