You can reach the pass from Comeglians or Ravascletto. Below is a proposed route in the form of a loop, starting in Tolmezzo, climbing Monte Crostis from Comeglians, descending to Sella Valcalda, and returning to Tolmezzo through Sutrio:

We start on the route according to the map;
- 0,2km: Tolmezzo (322m.a.s.l.) turn left onto Via Gio Batta Morgagni - signpost: Tarvisio;
- 0,4km: (322m.a.s.l.) turn right onto Via Papa Giovanni XXIII and continue for 350m, then turn right onto a bike path, that leads us to a comfortable and safe crossing over the Torrente But river bridge;
- 1,2km: (330m.a.s.l.) after crossing the bridge, we exit the bike path and join the SP125 road;
- 5,1km: (335m.a.s.l.) turn right onto the busy SS52 road - signpost: Villa Santina;
- 8,2km: (365m.a.s.l.) at the roundabout, take the first exit onto SR355 - signpost: Ovaro;
- 9,1km: (388m.a.s.l.) turn left onto SP35 - signpost: Raveo;
- 12,9km: Raveo (495m.a.s.l.) on the right side near a small parking lot, there is a drinking water intake;
- 16,4km: (493m.a.s.l.) after crossing the Torrente Degano river bridge, turn left to rejoin the SR355 road;
- 19,4km: Ovaro (535m.a.s.l.) food stops available;
- 22,3km: (568m.a.s.l.) turn right onto SR465 - signpost: Ravascletto;
- 23,1km: (554m.a.s.l.) go straight - signpost: Tualis and Monte Crostis; the climb begins;
- 27,5km: (883m.a.s.l.) there is a drinking water intake on the right side; - 30km: (1142m.a.s.l.) there is a drinking water intake - on the left side - the last one before Monte Crostis;
- 37,8km: Monte Crostis - (1982m.a.s.l.) destination reached;

We descend towards Ravascletto, and for 6km on a flat section, the road is unpaved;

- 64km: (536m.a.s.l.) turn left onto SP111 towards Piano d'Arta;
